Welsh JohnWELSH, John Kerr “Jack”   -   April 30th, 1949 - March 22nd, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Kerr “Jack” Welsh  In his 71st year, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jack was a proud member of Local 46 and worked as a plumber for 41 years before becoming a Plumbing Instructor at Durham College for the last 12 years.

“Scouter Jack” as he was also known volunteered his time with Scouts Canada for over 30 years and was recently awarded the Bar to the Silver Acorn in recognition of his contributions to Scouting in Whitby and Oshawa.

He was also the curator of the Scout Memorabilia Museum in Camp Samac for many years. 


LeBlanc PaulLeBLANC, Paul Joseph   -  Tragically passed away on March 22, 2021, at the age of 57.

Dear father of Edward and grandfather of Lilly.

Loving brother of Leonard, Gerry (Bear) and sister-in-law Mary Wren.

Predeceased by his parents Edward and Frances.

Paul will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, friends and best friend Dave Baldwin.

He worked for 25 years at Ajax Textile.

Handjes FannyHANDJES, Fanny Margaret Handjes   -  October 10, 1957 – March 23, 2021

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family of Fanny Margaret Handjes passed away suddenly but peacefully in her home at the age of 63 on March 23, 2021. 

Fanny was sadly predeceased by her loving husband of 31 years Robert “Bob” James Munn on November 24, 2012 after a valiant battle with brain cancer. 

Fanny was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her two sons, Jonathon (Jessica) and Jeremy (Amanda). 

Sofia and Jameson who cherished their Granny Fanny will miss her terribly as time passes, but her memory will live on through their smiles. 

HARDING, Paul Laurence – Paul passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 23, 2021 at Lakeridge Ajax Hospital.

Findlay GillianFINDLAY, Gillian Elizabeth Mary Findlay   -  Gillian “Jill” Findlay passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the age of 86. 

Gillian was born on March 11, 1935, in Swansea, Wales to parents William Davies and Edith (Grey) Davies.

She graduated from college where she acquired secretarial skills including “Gregg” Shorthand, ready to start her career. 

In 1955, Gillian immigrated to Canada where she met her first husband James Carmichael.

They were married in Toronto in 1958 and moved to Scotland a few years later.

Gillian stayed home to raise her four children, Ian, Brian, Cal, and Caroline.

BARCLAY, Pamela Arlene (nee Crane)   -  Passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side, on March 24, 2021.

Pam is survived by her loving husband Donald, daughter Teresa and her husband Jason, son Brian and his wife Natasha, her treasured grandchildren Jaime, Sydni, Jordann and Cheyenne, and great grandchildren Jayke and Emma, as well as her dog Chico.


Davies WilliamDAVIES, William (Bill) Henry (November 20th, 1932 - March 21st, 2021)

BEM “01” to his army friends, passed away peacefully on 21st March 2021, at 88 years old.

He was preceded by his beloved wife Phyllis (nee Beames) and Grandson Simon (son of Janet and George) back in Wales.

He is survived by his Daughter Janet, Son-in-law George, Granddaughter Amie her husband Parker and Great Granddaughter Freya, who dearly miss him as a rock, friend, and playful Great Granddad, and his Son Paul and Grandson Robert still residing in Wales.

He was very active in veterans groups both in Wales and Canada and will be sadly missed by the many friends he has made over a well-lived giving life.

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on March 21, 2021 at the age of 86.

Joe will be dearly missed by sons George Hamilton (Ed), David Johnson (Shelly), grandchildren Stephanie Fleming (Colin) and Dylan Johnson and grandchildren Somersby and Miller Fleming as well as close friend Donna Cannon.

Hodge DenisHODGE, Dennis Waring Hodge  - August 29, 1929 – March 22, 2021 

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital on Monday March 22, 2021 in his 92nd year.

Loving Dad to Denise (Peter), Rusty (Cris) and Erin.

Proud Poppa to Kelly (Sebastian), Christian (Iris), Andrew, Bryce and Keana.

Cherished great Poppa to Braxton and Brooklyn.

Dennis is pre-deceased by his loving furry kids, Cooper and Joey. 

A special thank you goes to the staff at The Colonial Retirement Home and to Kevin and Lois Dwyer for their help and compassion as well as Mike Cooksey. 

Dennis will be remembered by his many extended family and friends for how hard working and humble he was.

TEER, Timothy John  -  March 7, 1965 – March 22, 2021

Passed away peacefully with his life partner of 29 years Karen Allan by his side, at the Mariposa House Hospice in Orillia.

Cockburn HarryCOCKBURN, Harry Arnold Cockburn   -  July 1, 1941 – March 22, 2021

Kind, generous, patient, loving, smart and full of business savvy (no surprise that he was a Boy Scout as well).

These are just a few words that easily describe Harry Arnold Cockburn who was a loving husband, son, older brother, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend.

Born on July 1st, 1941 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Ada and John Cockburn, but a proud Canadian through and through.

Married November 20, 1964 to Gail. Died peacefully at home in Whitby, Ontario on March 22, 2021.  

Dad loved meeting people (and dogs), getting to know them, always showing an ease in conversation and learning new things.

LUNDHILD, Annie   -  We are sad to announce the passing of Annie Lundhild.

She lost her brave fight with cancer on March 22, 2021 at the age of 80.

She is now with her husband Ejnar Lundhild who passed away in 2015.

Pat was the cherished mother of Heather Gillis (Mike Gillis), Sherry Fraser (Brent Fraser) and Lori Baron; proud grandmother to Jim Gillis (Becky Gillis), Jennifer Delisi (Andy Delisi), Rob Fraser (Jackie Fraser), Blake Fraser (Sarah Giroux) and great grandmother to Kali Gillis, Hunter Gillis, Harvey Fraser and Leo Delisi.

KENT, James Garry  - August 1938 – March 23, 2021 

As a long-time employee and retiree of General Motors of Canada in Oshawa, Ontario, James Garry was known to his coworkers as Jim but to his friends and family he was Garry. 


Ranalli SheilaRANALLI, Sheila June Ranalli   -  June 18, 1957 -  March 3, 2021

Of Whitby, Ontario passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital after a short illness. 

She will be greatly missed by her son Tony (Alyson), grandson William, sister Sue, niece Valerie (Dennis) great nephew and niece Gabriel and Natasha. 

Sheila was predeceased by her parents John and Margaret Bowerman. 

One of her first jobs was at Long and McQuade Music in the accounts receivable department, Afterwards Sheila worked for many years in the insurance industry ending her career as a much respected Technical Delivery Lead, IT Quality and Assurance for Royal and Sun Alliance.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Beatrice (Betty) Clark in her 92nd year on March 21st, 2021 at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. 

Betty was co-owner of Family Kartways in Whitby. 

She was predeceased  by her husband, Richard, in 2018 and survived by her 6 children; Rick (Marie), Bob (Wendy), Jim (Rita), Deborah (Bob), Timothy (Laura), Tom (Tammy); 15 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

SINGH, Cecilia Violet Singh  - 1938-2021  On Monday, March 22, 2021, Cecilia Singh loving mother of Dennis and Donna, adoring grandmother of Natasha, Amanda, Alyshia and Luke and great grandmother of Siren passed away at the age of 82 Cecilia was born in Georgetown, Guyana on September 18, 1938.

On April 20th, 1957, she married Ramoo.

Passed away at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on March 20, 2021 at the age of 71.

Loving husband of Linda Rose Lami (Chilvers) for 48 years.

Adored dad of Bert Jr. (Melinda) and Andrew.

Cherished grampa of Nick and Jaxon.

Bert will be dearly missed by Carol, Peter (late Dorothy), Jack (Betty), Jim (Cathie), Gerrie and Case (Deb) as well by in laws Betty (Jack) and Bob (Trudy).

Larsson GwendolynLARSSON, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Jean Clarke (nee Elliott) Larsson   -  It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gwen Larsson on March 20, 2021, in her 94th year, after a brief illness. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years Leif Larsson (2010) and loving mother of her daughter, Patricia (Trish) Larsson (2020). 

Gwen is survived by her son-in-law Allan Mallette along with family and many friends throughout Canada and Sweden.  Gwen often remarked how fortunate she was to have had such a wonderful life. 

She was born on January 26, 1928 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland to Royd and Georgie Elliott. 

She was very proud of her Newfoundland heritage and spoke so lovingly of her years growing up there.
