FRY, Jeffrey Edward  September 30, 1926 - November 6, 2018

We are sad to share that Jeffrey Edward Fry passed on November 6, 2018.

In his last days Jeff was surrounded by his wife and family.

Jeff will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary known as ‘Willi’ of 62 years, sister Helen Newman (Norman), children Denyse Jeffrey-Janusc (Gary) and Lezlie Fry (Nancy).

He will be very much missed by his grandchildren Scott, Karen (Mike) and Michael, great- grandchildren Lucas and Christopher.

Born in Westcliff –On- Sea, Wessex, England Jeff grew up in World War II where as a school child he was evacuated during ‘The Blitz’ and relocated to several locations in England and Wales.

Thereafter he enlisted to serve his beloved country of England. In 1954 he moved to Bermuda where he worked as a journalist for the Royal Gazette and had the opportunity to interview Prime Minister John Diefenbaker , President Dwight Eisenhower and various movie celebrities.

In 1955 Jeff met Willi Keays and shortly after married in 1956.

The newly wedded couple settled down in Bermuda for 2 years.

In 1958 Willi returned to Oshawa Ontario, introducing Jeff to Canada where he briefly worked at the Oshawa Times then moving on to the CBC newsroom. He was then recruited in 1960 to join the new TV station, CFTO, as a journalist which expanded into CTV where he became the first producer of W5.

For a short period of time Jeff was a producer of the National News and then became the Associate Producer of 'Live It Up' successfully launching the new show. In retirement he enjoyed relaxing at his cottage on Anstruther Lake. Jeff will be remembered as a very proud and quiet man with a quick sense of humour and a great love of knowledge. He will be greatly missed by all.

Jeff’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday November 25th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Annandale Golf and Curling Club at 221 Church St. S., Ajax.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca.
