McCallum ThomasMcCALLUM, J. Thomas  - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 6 2018 at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa in his 71st year.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary.

Loving Father of Darcey, Jim (Rachel), Christeen and her husband Drew, and Scott (Kandi).

Sadly missed by grandchildren Jessica, Cameron, J.T., Abby, Lexie, Gillian, Brooke, Riley, and Kaylen, Cherished son of (late) James Lloyd.

Dear brother of Darlene and (late) Vicky and missed by his nieces and nephews. 

In his professional life, Tom was sought after for advice in tax and business valuations.

As the president of the Certified General Accountants of Ontario and through his work on the provincial and national boards he helped create the path that would lead to the unification of the profession as Chartered Professional Accountants.

His humour and deep knowledge made him a favourite speaker at over 1,300 seminars across Canada, Barbados and the United States.

Tom was the coordinator of the CGA Magazine’s monthly “Tax Strategy “column from 1989 to 2014. He authored several online courses and articles for CPA Canada and was the principal contributor to the Tax Newsletter in the online forum for public practitioners.

Tom proudly held the honour of Fellow in the Certified General Accountants and Chartered Professional Accountants. In his professional life - as in his personal - Tom was always ready to help, with good advice and good humour.

He was a true friend to the profession.

Friends may call at the MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY ON Sunday December 9 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the chapel on Monday, December 10th at 11 a.m.

Interment MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
