FLETCHER, Robert John   - Dad passed away peacefully in his 80th year.

Born in Coventry, England to James and Marjorie (deceased 1991 and 1995).

He was the eldest brother to John (Carol), Colin and Diana.

Dad was a true gentleman with a quirky sense of humour, a love of great movies, music, a good pint of beer and an occasional cognac.

He was a self taught musician, playing steel guitar, guitar and piano.

In his earlier years Dad enjoyed playing music festivals in London with his mate, Brian and playing with his band the Blue Hawaiians at various venues.

Happily married for over 50 years to Doreen (deceased March 2018), he and Mom had a wonderful life together and enjoyed amongst many things their love of travelling around the world. Dad was an electrician for over 48 years, working for various companies; Jaguar Motors (Coventry), CP Rail, Hydro and retiring from General Motors in 2003.

He and Mom enjoyed retirement together, until Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia required Dad to be cared for at Hillsdale Estates for his final years. Lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Caroline (Larry) Niblett and Suzanne (Terry) Hedges.

He is fondly remembered by his three granddaughters, Victoria (Devon), Laura and Sarah and his great-grandson, Finnley.

Dad will be remembered by many family and friends here in Canada and England as well.

Visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville on Saturday January 12th, 12 pm – 1 pm. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society.
