LISE, Markus Johannes   - Passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Tuesday March 26th, 2019 with his family at his side.

He is experiencing Life to the fullest with his Lord and Saviour in Heaven.

Markus has forever imprinted his love for God’s creation on those who knew and loved him.

Beloved husband and best friend to Jeanne.

Much loved Dad to Nathan & Janna, Pauline & Todd, Anita & Len, Christine & Rob, and Shawn & Jessica. Cherished Grandpa / Opa to Jeannine & Dominick, Stephanie & Dan, Zachary & Victoria, Jocelyn & Dan, Adelle & Zach, Justine, Natasha, Dan, Rebecca & Erich, Sam, Annalise, Carlisle and Jesse. Adored Great-Grandpa to Theo, Amandine, Collette, Crosby, Samuel and Hailey.

Dear brother to Jessie (Cor), Alice (George), Joanne (Bill), Margaret & Gerry, Diane (Peter), Henry & Louise, and the late Jim & Jane.

Loved brother-in-law to (Margaret) Jan, Tony & Tena, Tineke, and Clarence & Pat.

Markus was born seventh of eight children to Johannes and Jantje Lise on October 21st, 1942 in Groningen, Netherlands.

They immigrated to Canada in 1952, along with materials to build a house on Upper James street in Hamilton. His class at Hamilton Christian School already had a Mark so his name was changed to Max, which stuck for many years.

During seminary Markus married Jeanne Alblas and they started their family. Markus pastored at a church in Burdett, Alberta for four years, very involved in the local political scene.

Markus’ marriage to Jeanne of almost 55 years, has produced 10 (5+5) children, 19 (13+6) grandchildren, and 6 (+2) great grandchildren.

Visitation and viewing will be held at the Newcastle Funeral Home, on Thursday, March 28th, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, March 29th, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Celebration of Life will be held at the REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 30 Scugog St. Bowmanville (905-623-5032) on Friday, March 29th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor John Wildeboer officiating. Celebration of Life will be live streamed at: https://www.jesusandyou.ca/listen-livestreaming/.

Markus will be cremated and a Scattering ceremony with immediate family will be held at a later date.
