Retsinas SteveRETSINAS, Steve Stavros - (September 14, 1936 - June 17, 2019)

Today in the city of champions we mourn the loss of our family's champion.

With much sadness we announce the passing of Steve Stavros Retsinas on Monday, June 17, 2019.

Beloved husband to Kaliopi (Kay) Retsinas for 61 years, whom passed on November 8, 2023.

Loving father to Tom (Rose) Retsinas and Norman (Patricia) Retsinas.

Cherished Papou to Steven, Jordan, Justin and Adam.

Predeceased by parents, Anthanasios and Christina and parents-in-law Norman and Petrina Terzis.

Esteemed brother to twelve brothers and sisters and countless nieces and nephews.

Born into very humble beginnings, in Greece, at a young age his name was changed to Stavros in honour of his family's oldest boy who was killed by a bomb.

At a young age Stavros emigrated to Canada in 1955; not knowing a single word of English and with only a grade three education. Hard work, intelligence and luck allowed Stavros to be a good provider to his family and he became an astute, well-respected self-made businessman.

He always enjoyed working, only fully retiring after he fell ill where he remained at home and was tirelessly cared for day and night by his loving wife and family.

Stavros's life revolved around his family always taking care of everyone right up until his last day.

He led by example and instilled a healthy hard work ethic and the true meaning of family in each and every one of us and those who knew him.

Thankfully, he spent his last Father's Day as he lived his life with all his family together we all said our goodbyes. He passed away at home peacefully with his loving family by his side.

Stavros, we miss you and are all blessed to have been loved by you. We love and admire you and will do our best to continue your legacy.
