Former Mayor of Whitby, Jim passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Marjorie (Rints); son David (Sharon); Donald (predeceased); and three grandchildren: Candace (Adam), Brittany, and James; two great-grandchildren: Jeremy and Avery.

He was a long-time member of the Whitby Kinsmen Club. 

He served as President of the club 1962/63, District 8 Governor in 1964/65, and he was proclaimed a Life Member of the club in 1968. 

Jim was also the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for dedicated services to peers and the community.  Jim was a very humble and private person, and those who knew him were familiar with his witty sense of humour and love of life.

A memorial visitation for Jim will take place at  W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL , 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby, on Sunday, the 23nd of June, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. 

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 25, at 11:00 am, at St. Mark’s United Church, 201 Centre Street South, Whitby.

Donations in memory of Jim may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, SickKids Foundation or a charity of your choice.
