SHARPE, Edith (Edie) Marie Sharpe   – April 24, 1962 to August 19, 2019

It is with deepest sorrow that we say goodbye to Edie our most beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and best friend who passed away on Monday August 19, 2019 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the young age of 57.

Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia she is predeceased by her husband Steven Melchior and her dearly loved mother Verna (Fraser) Sharpe.

She will be deeply missed by her father Robert Sharpe (Shelley), her sisters Deborah Piggot and Lisa MacLean (Jim), her four nephews Robert, Nathan (Chantal), Mitchell and Justin and her two great nephews Gibson and Rhett.

Edie will also be deeply missed by Denis Keip her love and partner of eight years of Walkerton, Ontario where Edie lived happily for the past 20 years.

Edie had a kind, gentle, thoughtful and generous spirit, she had a truly contagious laugh and sense of humour. She lived life to its fullest through simple pleasures.

Edie had an incredible ability to connect with others, and to create positive, nurturing friendships with all who were privileged to have met and to know her.

A truly bright and beautiful light has been extinguished and Edie will forever be deeply missed by those of us who loved her.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday September 8th at Newcastle Town Hall, 20 King Ave W. Newcastle at 11:00am with a luncheon and refreshments immediately following the celebration.  A 2nd celebration of life will be held on Sunday October 6th at 1:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 130, 493 8th Ave, Hanover, Ontario.

Donations can be made to the Durham Region Hospice, the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation or a CHARITY of your choice.
