Galvao AntonioGALVAO, Antonio Pereira  -  October 3, 1934 - October 22, 2019

Antonio Pereira Galvao passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2019 at the age of 85 years old.

Born in Senharei, Portugal, Antonio grew up working in a farming community.

At the age of 18, he joined the army and in 1955, at the age of 23, immigrated to Canada to begin a new life.

Antonio started his journey by working in farming communities in Eastern Ontario, eventually making his way to Oshawa which became home.

Cars were his passion, GM of course, and he owned many.

Antonio’s love for cars led him to find work in a body shop where he mastered painting. During this time, he also went to trade school to become a welder and put these skills to use at General Motors from where he retired.  A

ntonio was an active member in helping build the Portuguese community we are a part of today.

He enjoyed the Portuguese gatherings and socializing with his dear friends and family.  He loved politics and a good debate, loved Canada and travelling, and most of all loved his family.

Always willing to help others, his actions spoke louder than words.  He will be dearly missed by his wife Rosa, his children David (Maribel) and Jackie (Mario) and his grandchildren Lucas, Elijah, Lilli, Tiago and Gia.

Relatives and friends will be received at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Friday October 25th, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday October 26th, 2019 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church, 690 King St. E., Oshawa at 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Antonio can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region.
