VANDERVOORT, Maria – (August 8th, 1930 - April 21st, 2020)
Maria Vandervoort, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Altamont Care Community in West Hill, Ontario.
Maria was born in Heerlen, the Netherlands to Gerard and Anna Coenen and was the youngest of five children. She grew up in the Netherlands, and in 1955 she married Jozef (deceased) and the two of them immigrated to Canada the same year.
She raised her family and lived in Brockville and area for approximately 55 years after which she moved to West Hill.
Maria enjoyed spending time with family and friends, travelling and was an avid knitter.
Maria was loved and cherished and will be forever remembered by her daughters Anna-Marie Dickson (Doug) of Calgary and Belinda Vandervoort of Pickering; and her grandchildren Amanda, Emily, Christopher and Mark. She is also survived by nieces and nephews in the Netherlands and Australia.
A private family burial will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Whitby, Ontario.
Funeral services are being provided by BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME in Whitby.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
