Malec IrenaMALEC, Irena (nee Rudowicz) - (January 1, 1924 - April 27, 2020)

Irena passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at Hillsdale Terraces, on Monday April 27th, 2020.

She was born in Poland in 1924, to a large and loving family.

Irena was a proud member of St. Hedwig’s Church and had a very strong and unwavering faith.

She was a caring and religious woman with a determination that helped her enjoy a long and joyful life.

Irena dedicated her life to caring for her family, loved her daughters and adored her grandchildren.

Irena was predeceased by her loving husband Peter in 2006, after 46 years of marriage. They enjoyed many years of happiness together and made many great memories.

Beloved mother of Elizabeth Wojcik and her husband Joe and Barb Malec-Lambert and her husband John. She loved her children and their spouses immensely. Loving and proud Babcia of Caroline(Daniel), Joanna(Nick), Alicia & Eric. The joy her grandchildren brought her was beyond words.

Irena will be lovingly remembered by all of her family and friends in Canada and Poland. She had a very kind heart and a generous spirit.

She enjoyed gardening, singing and loved spending time with her family. She was a great cook, especially of Polish dishes.

She had a long rewarding life, filled with love, spirituality, laughter and song.  She was well known throughout Hillsdale as the singer. Many staff and residents often mentioned how very heartwarming her singing was.

Although she only spent five months at Hillsdale Terraces, she felt the warmth and caring of the staff and she touched the hearts of many of her caregivers. We as the family are truly grateful for the exceptional care she received at Hillsdale Terraces.

God had gained a beautiful angel and we know she will watch over her entire family. We will forever hold our dear mother in our hearts.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Thornton Cemetery. Prayers will be said by the graveside with the Parish Priest from St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.
