Harris CarolHARRIS, Carol Anne (Cross) – (June 12th, 1950 - May 4th, 2020)

Passed away peacefully on Monday May 4th, 2020 at Wynfield Long Term Care Facility.

Carol was in her 70th year.

Beloved wife of Brian Harris for 47 years.

Beloved mother of Jeff, Michael (Amber), Andrea (Will) and Sherri (Chris).

Beloved grandmother Jackson, Cieran, Declan, Hunter, Lucas, Anika, Kaylee and Oliver.

Dear sister of John Cross and stepsister of Beth, Bruce (Lee) and Bill (Lisa).

Dear sister in law of Heather, Karen (Frank), Cheryl, Vaughan (Karen), Janice (Michael), Charlene (Luis), And Terry (Maria).

Dear niece of Grant and Donna Simmons and proud aunt of Bruce (Joanne) and Brian (Tammy).

Carol will be lovingly remembered by all of her family and friends.

Carol was a proud teacher for 35 years and finished her career at Newcastle Public School teaching her favourite grade, kindergarten.

Carol loved to travel! She cherished family trips to various locations around the world. After retirement, Carol and Brian quite enjoyed cruises and staying at Sandals resorts. Her hobbies included singing, gardening, sewing, painting and decorating, reading and spending time with her children and later, her grandchildren.

After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Carol was fortunate to get connected with Alzheimer Society Durham Region and their support programs and staff. During our first support group, Carol proclaimed that, “I would do as much as I could for as long as I could.”  She was determined, resilient and inspired many during her fight.

The family would like to thank the staff of Alzheimer Society Durham Region and the staff of Oshawa Senior Citizen Centres for their support.

A heartfelt thanks and gratitude is extended to Wynfield LTC staff and in particular all staff that worked in the Purple Woods Unit.

A private family service will be held at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, Oshawa on Friday May 8th, followed by interment at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the future when all those who knew and loved Carol can be gathered together in person.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Carol to the Alzheimer Society Durham Region or Autism Society Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
