Winch MervinWINCH, Mervin 'Merv' Clifford  - (July 27, 1946 -  May 29, 2020)

Passed away peacefully in the arms of his loyal, devoted daughter Penny on May 29, 2020 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 73 after a brave and valiant 8 month battle.

Merv was a dedicated and loving father of Dale Winch (Erin) of Colborne, ON, Kelly Harrington (Larry) of Oshawa, ON, Penny McQueen (Andy) of Oshawa, ON, Brad Winch (Katie) of Fountain, Colorado, Tracy McEwan of Guelph, ON and Debra McDonald (Brian) of Deep River,  ON.

Very proud grandfather of his dearly loved grandchildren, Adreianna Winch, McKayla and Carly Harrington, Taylor and Skylor McQueen, Drake Winch, Kiana and Dylan Roberts, Jody, Amanda and Heidi Winch, Brandon McDonald.

Great Grandfather of 8.

Predeceased by his stillborn grandson Jonathon Winch.

Merv will be greatly missed by his many, many close friends, including Mary, Hans, Dave, Keith, Zach, Penny, Gerry, Guy, Val, Laura, Via, Michael, Dave, Doug, Tania and George, Sylvia, Erin,  Laura and Dave, John and Lloyd, Arlene and Jimmy and many more - he loved you all as you did him.

Merv was born in North Bay July 27, 1946 to Wilfred ‘Gordon’ Winch( August 3, 1902 in Adamsville, ON) and Rubie Mae (Robinson- September 6, 1907 in Tara, ON). Predeceased by his parents and by his siblings Gerald, Marjorie Mae (Mrs. Donald Ross) and Earle. Merv worked for Ontario Hydro, now OPG, for over twenty years before accepting a retirement package at 47.

Retirement gave him great freedom and he enjoyed numerous winters in his second home of Puerta Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico.

Merv was a loyal, generous man, very charitable to so many organizations in Canada and Mexico, a humble, simple, kind man full of positivity and support for anyone who allowed him to. He had a great sense of humour, loved walking, being outside, especially walking by any shoreline, in his home of Oshawa and Puerta Vallarta.

Loved immeasurably, his presence will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Merv’s life will be planned in the future.

If desired, donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy  www.crohnsandcolitis.ca.

Expressions of condolence may be left at etouch.ca.
