On Tuesday, June 10th, 2020, Bette, in her 95th year, passed away peacefully at Chartwell-Wynfield LTC.

She joins her beloved husband, Lloyd.  They shared a wonderful life together for 64 years.

They married within weeks of Lloyd’s return from overseas in August 1945.

Predeceased by brothers, Bill, Harvey and Don and sister, Dorothy, and survived by her brother, Jim.

Cherished mother of Jane Porter (Dr. Ron Porter) and Bob Bloomer (Marilyn Bloomer).

She is remembered with love by her grandchildren, Debbie Nero, grandson-in-law Rod Fortune, Mike Bloomer (Kari) and Karen Chenier (Jay), Sheri Lucas Fortune, along with five great grandchildren, Brett Fortune, Lauren Fortune, Sarah Fortune, Mellia Bloomer, Jonathan Bloomer and predeceased by Victoria Chenier and Baby Michael Bloomer.

She was also loved by her many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Friendships made during her time with Lloyd, and more recently at AMICA Retirement Residence and then Chartwell-Wynfield Long Term Care, have been a source of great solace and joy to Bette.

We wish to thank Dr. Dhillon and all of the staff at Chartwell Wynfield Long Term Care for the loving care they gave Bette during her years there.

A special thanks to her friends Beverley, Tamara, Joyce and the late Sylvia.

I know Mom would like us to thank, on her behalf, Dr. Kopolovic, her Oncologist, and all the nurses and other staff that cared for her at the Oshawa Cancer Clinic during the past three years while she fought her Leukemia (AML).

As per Bette’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life for family will be arranged at a future date when social distancing guidelines permit.
