GILBERT, Laura Doreen - On June 21, 2020.
Our mother was born on 14th October 1930 in Penzance, Cornwall, England.
She was one of eight children born to the late Jane and Arthur Jasper.
In 1954 she married our father, The late Thomas Ivor Gilbert.
In June 1960 they emigrated to Canada with their two eldest children, where they made a new life in Toronto.
Two other daughters were born in Canada.
Our memories of our mother are filled with her love for us, her healing hand when we were sick, her love of animals, her laughter and sense of humour, not to mention the smells from the kitchen where she lovingly prepared her hearty Cornish dishes for us.
In recent years she developed dementia, and in early 2019 was moved to the Winbourne Long Term Care in Ajax, where she died peacefully on 21st June 2020.
She is survived by her four children: Janice, Paul, Stephenie, and Jane; her six grandchildren: Jennifer, Ryan, Matthew, Meagan, Andrew and Nicholas; and her one surviving sibling Brian Jasper.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to our mother's favourite cause The Toronto Humane Society.
