JANACEK, Lillian Ruth Janacek (Chapple)  - Was born January 27, 1931 in Montreal.

Lil died on August 21, 2020 just before midnight, continuing to show her strength and love for her family, surrounded and in the arms of her children, grandchildren, “adopted” daughter Cindy “adopted” granddaughter Kerri, and nieces Brenda, Kim, and Heidi, all who loved her very deeply.

Daughter of Ruth and Clem, older sister to Joan, Miriam, Jimmy, Billy and Kenny and cousin-sister Mickey, she was raised in a home filled with love, laughter, faith and values.

Lil left school at 14 and started work at Sun Life in the secretarial pool. She loved to type, and as long as she had a working typewriter, she could be heard typing letters to family and friends.

She met Joe when she was 17 and fell in love, marrying at 20 and following him to Ottawa, Chapleau, London, and finally Ajax in his work with the Canadian Pacific Railway.

Lil and Joe had five children of their own, Mike, Debby, Sue, Bob and Wendy and embraced their partners Cory, Wayne, Ned, Glenda, Kevin, and Lynn as her own.

She devoted much of her life to her grandchildren Ian, Lyndsay, Sara, Mark, Derek, Heather, Jeff, Brian, Jessica, Ben and Julia always there to babysit, drive them where they needed to go, take them on special trips and treat them at restaurants. She added Megan and Sarah, Daniel and Victoria into the fold along with her grandchildren’s partners Mel, Greg, Joe, Carley, Rob, Krischele, Terence, Sarah, Matthew and Angelo. Lil knew she was fully blessed with the births of her great-grandchildren Hayden, Carson, Ryah, Amelia, Shea, Lily, Zoey, Nolan, Aria and Burke.

She never missed celebrating birthdays, graduation, Valentine’s Day, Easter or any special occasion.

She volunteered at her church in many capacities, creating lasting friendships wherever she went.

Her life was so blessed by the deep friendships she had with Pat, June, Dorothy and Hilda.

She knew that true friendship never faltered and we give huge thanks to Pat and Hilda who have truly supported her even in the very difficult last two years.

Lil never judged, was courageous, stubborn, loved a good party, always had an extra plate at the table, was honest, and worried about everyone up until her final moments.

She loved everything about Christmas, family get togethers and opening her doors to anyone anytime.

A life lived in courage and left in love is truly a beautiful thing. A rare bird in a grey sky.

Live better, love harder, and always keep a spare table seating.
