SMYTH, William "Bill" Smyth  -  April 22, 1935 - August 22, 2020

On Saturday, August 22, 2020, William Smyth (Bill) passed away, with his family by his side, at the age of 85.

He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Bill was born on April 22, 1935 in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, to Matilda and Daniel Smyth.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Margaret (Moore), Dan (Jean), John (Val), and Joan (Jim).

He is survived by his sisters-in-law Rita (Ron) and Teresa.  Bill enjoyed a rewarding career in the aircraft industry. He began his life's work at the Short Brothers in Belfast, before continuing his employment in England.

It was there where he met the love of his life, his future wife, and his partner for the next six decades, Rosemary Ann.

After a nearly two year courtship, Bill and Ann married on November 19, 1960. In June of 1963, they welcomed their first and only child, David. Soon after David's birth, they made the difficult decision to leave England and move to Canada in search of new opportunities.

Bill devoted his life to the betterment of his family, who all surrounded him with love as he peacefully passed at the Ajax Pickering Hospital.

He will be profoundly missed by his wife Ann, his son David, his grandchildren, Kelly, and Kristin and her husband Nick.

In light of the global pandemic, a small family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer Society, Durham Region at https://alzheimer.ca/en/durham.
