Kennedy JamieKENNEDY, Jamie Lee  - (February 28th, 1987 - August 26th, 2020)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic death of our beloved Jamie Lee Kennedy on Wednesday, August 26th, 2020, following pregnancy complications at Mount Sinai Hospital.

She is survived by her husband Joey Kennedy; her infant daughter Olivia; her father Lee Gilmour (Desiree Ashby and her children Janelle, Tyrell and Janysha); her mother Helene Trahan (Rob Joseph); siblings Gabriella (Eric Lefebvre) and Anthony Zordan; her grandmother Nora Gilmour; her mémère Madelaine Trahan; and her stepfather Nadir Zordan (Nathalie Morissette and her daughter Valerie Faucher).

She was predeceased by her grandfather Arthur Gilmour and her pépère Daniel Trahan

She will be deeply missed by Joey’s parents; Linda and Brian Kennedy, and sisters-in-law Tara and Brynne.

Jamie graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Services in 2010, going on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012 from York University.

Jamie worked as a Registered Nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at SickKids Hospital caring for infants, where her boundless compassion was of great comfort to her tiny patients and their families.

Jamie returned to York University to earn her Masters in Nursing Science in 2018, and went on to work as a Nurse Practitioner at Bellevile Quinte West Community Health Centre in Trenton, Carea Community Health Centre in Oshawa and Geriatric Assessment Intervention Network (GAIN) Clinic in Oshawa, where she cared for her many patients.

Jamie and Joey met and fell in love in 2006. Their adoration for one another was evident to everyone who knew them. Jamie and Joey wed in 2013 and built a home together full of joy, laughter and good food, where they doted on their pets Scarlett and Mila. Jamie also loved to travel, and went on adventures to Paris and multiple locations in Asia and the Caribbean.

Jamie constantly expressed her appreciation for her friends and family, making them feel loved and cared for. Countless people in Jamie’s life experienced her acts of kindness and support. Jamie was generous with both the skills she developed through her work and education and with her time.

More than anything, Jamie dreamed of being a mother, and her friends and family shared in the excitement when earlier in 2020 Joey and Jamie announced that they were expecting a daughter. Jamie’s tenderness, love and selflessness for her daughter was limitless, and when complications in her pregnancy arose, she spent and her final weeks focused on ensuring that her daughter would thrive when she entered the world.

Olivia’s existence is a reflection of her mother’s sacrifice and courage.

Jamie’s impact on the lives of those who knew her are beyond articulation. She will be desperately missed by husband, daughter and the rest of her family and large circle of friends.

A private service has taken place in Whitby. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date when the people Jamie loved can gather in health and safety with her husband and daughter.

If desired, a donation in Jamie’s name can be made at SickKids Hospital or Mount Sinai Hospital.

Arrangements entrusted with W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, Whitby.
