JONES, Elizabeth Ellen  - Peacefully at home, on Tuesday September 23, 2020 in her 59th year, after a 5 year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones and her very best four-legged companion and friend, Freddy.

Ellen Jones was dearly loved and will be missed by her two children Chris (Allison) Schierholtz Pembroke; and Katie Schierholtz Peterborough.

She was a proud grandmother to Chloe, a beloved daughter to Barbara (nee Goodman) and the late Llyod Jones, and the dear sister to Steve Jones and Laurien Jones.

Ellen was a highly respected member of her church community and worked as a social worker in Durham Region for over 20 years where she touched many lives.

Her dedication to her job inspired Katie to follow a similar path helping the youth of the community by becoming a Mental Health Nurse. She was a friend and confidante to her family and friends whom she treated like family.

In expression of sympathy, the family will be receiving donations to have a community bike repair station placed along the Waterfront Trail, as Ellen’s biggest passion in life was cycling.

Michelle Bradley has graciously agreed to be the point of contact for donations, e-transfer This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or contact 416-892-8103 to coordinate mailing. Cheques made payable to Michelle Bradley. A basket will be placed at the church as well, to accept any cash, cheques, and cards.

Please join us in celebrating Ellen’s life on Friday October 2, 2020 from 7-9 pm at Hope Fellowship Church in Courtice. Due to COVID restrictions a private family service will be held on Saturday October 3 at Hope Fellowship Church.

A sincere and heartfelt thank you is extended to Dr Kassirer and his palliative team for making Ellen comfortable the last few months, Dr Katrina Cox with Equilibrium Healthcare Solutions, as well as every healthcare provider over the last 5 years, and her numerous friends who had unwavering support and assistance when called upon.
