SPURRELL, Elizabeth 'Betty' Fraser  - Betty passed away peacefully in hospital on October 10th at age 89 due to complications from a stroke.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Lawrence. A loving mother to Shirley, David (Barb), and Linda (Paul); cherished grandmother to Brianna (Rowan), Ashleigh (Austin), Nicholas, Nicole, Natalie, and Marshall; great-grandmother to Ruby and Grant; sister to Nancy Clarke; Aunt to many loved nieces and nephews; and dear friend to Bev and Barry Bowes.

Remembered fondly by her extended family, the Clintons.

All who had the fortune of meeting her can attest to Betty’s kindness and truly selfless care for others.

A long-time resident of Pickering, Betty became an honorary grandma to many children in the neighbourhood over her 56 years in West Shore. She had the remarkable ability to only see the good in people.

Even in her greatest times of need, her first concern was always others. If we could all learn to be more like Betty, the world would be a much kinder place.

Tragically, Betty lost the love of her life, Lawrence, in 1994.

Though we miss them both terribly, we are comforted that they are together once again.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Lakeridge Health in Ajax for taking such good care of our beloved Betty in her final days.

Though there were many restrictions in place due to Covid, the staff worked tirelessly to provide outstanding care and to allow family to be present.

For that we are forever grateful.
