SPINKS, Sheila  -  (August 7, 1933 - October 18, 2020)

On a beautiful Fall morning, October 18, 2020, Sheila Spinks (nee Holland) passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of her daughter.

Despite the challenges of COVID19, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren managed to visit her daily, either virtually or across a windowpane

Loving mother of Neal & his wife Kathryn, Nora & her husband Laurie Landy, and Anne & her husband Sandi McGeachy. Dear grandmother to Adam & Jess, Lauren & Kyle, Evan & Maegan, Alicia, Shannon & David, Sarah, and great-grandmother to Spencer, Cassie and Vayda. She was also aunt to Graham and Duncan and cousin to Kenny & Gretchen, Joyce and Les.

Sheila was born in Drummondville, Quebec.

The bond she formed with fellow golfers, particularly the “BGB”s, held a special spot in Sheila’s life. Through her friends at the golf course, she found her home in Uxbridge and forged new friendships with a special group of women. Laughter was always a part of their 5 O’clock gathering.

A memorial bench has been established for friends who have passed away so that they will always be a part of the fun.

A caring and compassionate soul, in 1984 Sheila became a co-founding director of the Markham Food Bank and served on its board for many years. She wanted not only to provide food for families but also to teach, especially to people new to Canada, about nutrition, preparation and storage of food.

Due to COVID19 restrictions, there will not be a public ceremony. She will be laid to rest with her husband Bryan and her parents Harry & Kathleen Holland at the Elmwood Cemetery in Markham, Ontario in a private ceremony.

The family asks those who wish to honour Sheila to make a donation to the Markham Food Bank, Chances Are in Uxbridge or the charity of their choice.
