BURKE, Elsie - On October 27, 2020, Elsie Burke passed away peacefully at Bethany Lodge, Unionville, Ontario, into the loving arms of her precious Lord and Saviour at the age of 91.
Beloved wife of J. Scott Burke. Adored mother of Ewan (Mary) Burke, Elinor (David) Schmidt, Steven (Rishia) Burke and Alan (Lucy) Burke.
Dear Nanny to Nathan, Rachel, Lydia (Ben), Steven, Alexander, Benjamin, Samuel and Macalister. Loved aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Elsie was born in Newark, New Jersey but grew up in Paisley, Scotland, and kept her Scottish accent, funny sayings, and determination all her life.
Her chosen profession was nursing, and she worked as a nurse in the United Kingdom before coming to Canada for an adventure, where she met her husband, and she never left.
She was a loving wife and mother who always put her family first in everything she did, and was sustained, especially through declining health in her later years, by her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
She loved to give and receive hugs from her eight grandchildren and hear about everything they were up to.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but in our sorrow we rejoice that she is with her Lord and Saviour and is reunited with her eldest son Ewan.
