Blakeley BernardBLAKELEY, Bernard 'Bernie' Edward  - (March 24, 1964November 5, 2020)

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Bernie who passed away after an 8 1/2 year battle with cancer at the age of 56 years young, on November 5th, 2020.

He taught us how to fight cancer with courage, strength, grace and a special style of humour that only he possessed.

Bernie was an amazing husband to Barb (nee Lyon), a proud father to Michelle (Daniel), Krista and Matthew (Natalie) and a loving son to Alfred and Helene Blakeley.

Brother to Lynne (Colin) Finlay and David (Angela) Blakeley.

Caring son-in-law to Jim and Maureen Lyon and brother-in-law to Doug (Joanne) Lyon.

He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and a very large extended family.

Bernie was a proud member of both the Durham Men of Harmony and Harmony Ranch.

Resting at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W. Oshawa (905-721-1234).

Visitation will be held on Sunday November 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. (No appointment times reserved, COVID restrictions will be in place for social distancing and capacity).

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday November 9th at 10:30 am (attendance by invitation only). The Funeral Service will be Livestreamed on  www.funeraweb.tv    Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations to Harmonize for Speech, the Durham Regional Cancer Centre or the Hospital for Sick Children would be appreciated.
