Prosser JeanPROSSER, (Doris) Jean (nee Jeffery) - Went home to God on December 6, 2020 at age 90.

Jean was a woman with a deep, abiding and unwavering faith. She leaves behind a legacy of love, fairness, compassion and an incredible joy for the simple things in life.

Jean was born to John and Dorcas Jeffery on September 7, 1930 in Kemptville, Nova Scotia. As a child, she was a member of CGIT, Mission Band, BYPU and 4H groups.

Jean met her husband, Charles at the one room school in Kempt.

Due to the remoteness of Kempt she completed her high school education by boarding in Yarmouth. She is a graduate of the Provincial Normal College (Nova Scotia Teachers College) and returned to the south Nova Scotia area to teach school.

She and Charles married in 1952 and went on to have eight children, Brian (Anne), Susan (Eric Sadler d), Michael (Cathy), Jeffery (Angela), Pamela, Robert (Christene), Sandra (Bill Houlden) and Troy (Heather).

She and Charles raised this large family emphasizing strong values, work ethic and respect. In 1953 the family left Nova Scotia and moved to Oshawa.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, she adored her 17 grandchildren; Jennifer, Stacey, Owen, Ryan, Leigh, Brendan, Jordan, Evan, Shawn, Chelsey, Jocelyn, Sarah, Paul, Elyse, Claire, Hudson, Gabrielle and her 8 great grandchildren; Charlie, North, Phoenix, June, Lily, Ewan, Vera, Mackenzie.

She also loved her First Baptist Church and served on many missions, committees and women’s groups within the church. For 18 years she patrolled the intersection of Mary and Greta Streets as the school crossing guard.

Jean joins her Mom, Dad, sister Phyllis (late Bill Walsh), brother Wayne (Muriel) and sister-in-law Ruth (Art Greene), son-in-law, Eric, in Heaven.

She is survived by her husband Charles, brother Randall (Mary) and sister Ruth (late Reigh Poole).

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the nurses and support staff from F4, Palliative Care Unit, Lakeridge Health Oshawa, for their care and compassion.

We’re sure that in lieu of flowers, she would request that you perform an act of kindness for someone in her name.

Donations in memory can be made to Lakeview Cemetery in Kemptville, First Baptist Church Oshawa, CNIB or the charity of your choice.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
