Lisecky BobLISECKY, Bogdan "Bob" - (September 27, 1949 – December 29, 2020)

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Bogdan (Bob) Lisecky.

Bob passed away from a heart attack at Lakeridge heath hospital in Oshawa, on December 29th, 2020 in his 71st year.

Bob was born on the 27th of September, 1949 just outside Sao Paulo, Brazil.

His father, Gregory Lisecky (Dido) was from Ukraine, his mother Eufrosina Kurov (Baba) from Estonia, and the family moved from Ukraine to Germany where they had their daughter Olena before moving to Brazil to start a new life adventure.

Bob was always active and in Brazil loved playing soccer with friends, riding his bike, and generally creating trouble for his big sister. He also loved working with his Dad on any “handy” projects, making kites and flying them, and figuring out how things worked.

At the age of nine, the family headed to Canada, initially staying with relatives, and eventually moving to a house at 455 St. John’s Street in Toronto.

There Bob loved hanging out with friends, learning Ukrainian dancing, working in the shop with his Dad, and even creating his own makeshift “dark room” in the family basement so he could develop photographs. Bob became a lifeguard and joined the Toronto Harbour Police for Lake Ontario as a summer job.

After graduating high school, Bob went to Ryerson to study drafting and mechanical engineering.

On December 18th, 1971, at the age of 22, Bob spotted a beautiful girl across the room of the Nickelodeon. To get her attention he tossed a shelled peanut at Tricia Brown, a Ryerson nursing student. Apparently, his methodology was on point as he proposed 6 months later, and they got married on August 25, 1973.

They initially lived in Scarborough and on the 27th of November 1975, had their son, Mark Gregory Lisecky.
They moved to Newmarket and on November 4th, 1977, Timothy Alexander Lisecky was born. From there Bob got a wonderful promotion and enabled the family to buy their beautiful home in Schomberg.

Bob continued to use his technical skills to work hard and provide for his family, always being kind and considerate to family and friends.

On the 5th of April 2002, Bob and Tricia were delighted to welcome Tim’s daughter Hannah to the world. Hannah said these words about her Grandpa, “There was no one more supportive, loving, or caring in the world.”

In 2012, Bob and Tricia amicably went their own ways, keeping close family ties and continuing the friendship on which their relationship was based.

On February 16th, 2014, Bob met the beautiful Betty Larocque and went for lunch where they laughed, talked, and soon fell in love. Less than a year later, on Friday the 13th of 2015, Cupid came early and Bob’s proposal was happily accepted.

Bob moved from Lagoon City to Whitby to live with Betty where they continued to laugh, love, travel, and spend time with family and friends.

By 2016, Bob not only had two sons and a granddaughter, but also had acquired 4 daughters; Betty’s daughters Sarah and Melanie, Tim’s girlfriend Caitlin, and Mark’s wife Tam.

Bob is remembered by everyone as a family man, as a considerate and classy gentleman, a technical expert in engineering and milling in particular, and as a friend who would always help his neighbours. He was always active, riding his bike, playing pickleball, walking in nature, balancing rocks, and finding ways to make his family laugh.

With his life’s journey he was also fluent in six languages.

While in later years he traveled to many countries for work, his favourite place was always home with family.

Bob will be fondly remembered and loved by his soul mate Betty Larocque, his sons Mark and Tim Lisecky and their partners Tam Jeffs and Caitlin Murtomaki, his granddaughter Hannah Lisecky, his sister Olena Lisecky and her son Mathew and wife Jess Murchie, his former spouse and lifetime friend Tricia Lisecky, John and Janice Zerafa, and so many other family members, co-workers, and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, (905-721-1234).
