Jacklin MargaretJACKLIN, Margaret - It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our mother on January 9, 2021 at Hillsdale Estates, in her 99th year.

Margaret was born April 18, 1922 in Oshawa Ontario, the first of seven children born to the late George and Margaret (Peggy) Harding.

She married the love of her life, Eric Jacklin, on August 21, 1941.

They welcomed two children, Robert and Beverley, and were married 64 years before Eric’s passing in 2005.

Time spent with family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a great source of joy to her.  Recently, she even welcomed her first great-great-grandson.

Over the years, Margaret was very involved with the Oshawa Legion Br 43’s Ladies Auxiliary. In recognition of her more than 70 years of dedicated service, she was awarded a lifetime membership by the Legion Auxiliary.

She was part of the Oshawa Guiding Association, and was a member of the Girl Guides Trefoil Guild. A member of Albert Street United Church (later Centennial Albert United Church), Margaret participated in the UCW, serving as treasurer for many years, along with many other church activities.

While she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, sewing and gardening, her greatest pride and joy was her family.

Margaret is lovingly remembered by Robert (Lynn) Jacklin of Whitby and Beverley (Hugh) Stephenson of Baldur MB; grandchildren Christine Stephenson (Obi Nnadi) of Kitchener, Scott (Lexine) Stephenson of Onanole MB, Deric Jacklin (Karen DeBortoli) of Toronto and Kirk (Ellyssa) Jacklin of Scarborough; great-grandchildren: Bryce Stephenson (Kaylee Buekert) of Martensville SK, Nathan Stephenson of Onanole MB, Joshua DeBortoli-Jacklin of Toronto and Charlotte, Sydney and Todd Jacklin of Scarborough; and great-great-grandson Max Stephenson of Martensville SK.

In addition to her beloved Eric, Margaret was predeceased by brothers George, Albert, Bruce and William Harding, sister Mary Mountjoy, brothers-in-law Doug Jacklin and Don Mountjoy and sisters-in-law Barbara, Evelyn and Marion Harding and Maurie Shorten.

She is survived by her brother Fred Harding and sister-in-law Georgina Harding.

The family wishes to express its profound gratitude and appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Hillsdale Estates Primrose Path, the care and compassion provided to Mom, especially as her health declined and the friendliness shown to our family over the last four years has been excellent.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service will be held at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Centennial Albert United Church Oshawa or a charity of your choice.
