CHALMERS, Dave - Passed peacefully on Monday January 18th, 2021 at the age of 72.

Loving husband of Linda Chalmers, cherished son of the late Joyce Chalmers, beloved father to Brad, father-in-law to Cathy and proud grandpa to Logan and Zoë.

Predeceased by GP George and Elise Schell.

My father grew up in Ajax and had a very close relationship with his grandfather. His love of the outdoors started with the Boy Scouts and continued through his life with his family and friends.

After graduating Durham College, he was a computer technician at HoneyWell, before stepping through the doors at Hall #3. Starting in dispatch with the Whitby Fire Department in 1975, he continued his calling with the fire department for 30 years until his retirement, as a Captain at 60 in the training division fulfilling his passion for teaching.

My parents met in the fall of 1968 and married in August 1969. My mom was #1 and he never let me forget that. There is nothing they couldn’t argue about and nothing that they couldn’t or wouldn’t do together. For 51 years every project, every decision was a partnership.

He was devoted to his family and literally did any and everything he could do for us. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Logan and Zoë.

We will have a celebration of his life once restrictions are lifted and we have dealt with the heaps of junk he has left behind.

Christ, he didn’t even want a funeral, it was a waste of money in his opinion. His last regret would be not being able to haggle the price of his service and paying full price.

He will be looking down on us, mad I’m borrowing his tools and he didn’t get the last word in with my mother.

My father was a passionate and avid reader. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to First Book Canada in memory of my father to promote literacy and a passionate for reading amongst children in need.
