Passed away at home in Oshawa on Sunday, January 24th, 2021.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Hanaka, her sisters Dorothy Kubicki (Walt) and Eleanor Childress, brother Norman Hanaka and loving nephew Michael Woolacott.

Loving great aunt to many extended nieces and nephews.

Joan was happily retired, well respected and longtime employee of City Hall.  She spent her summers sailing and travelling, her greatest joy was creating her garden paradise.

It was a showpiece in the middle of Oshawa.

She enjoyed foraging for “Polish Gold” every autumn and holding poker parties with her friends and family.

She was a thoughtful and generous person towards her family, friends and neighbours.

Be at peace, we will all miss you dearly.

Due to covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234).

Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Humane Society of Durham Region would be appreciated.
