Gibbens JamesGIBBENS, James A. ("The Diamond”) - (May 20, 1933 – February 3, 2021)

Passed away peacefully at home after enduring a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on February 3rd, 2021 in his 88th year.

Dearly missed by his loving wife, Joan, of 57 years.

Loving father to James (Karisa) Gibbens, Michele (Bret) Parkinson, Jennifer (John) Simpson, and Andrea (Dan) Bisenberger.

Beloved grandfather to Jordan, Makenna, John Jr., Liam, Madelaine, Kate and Brooklyn.

James is predeceased by his dear parents, James and Mary Gibbens of Oshawa, his siblings Helen (Leo) Huffman, Margaret (Bruce) Morrison, William Gibbens, Vince (Eileen) Gibbens, Elizabeth Ann, Michael, brother in law Roy Allan and sister in law Doreen Wood.

 

James is survived by his cherished siblings, Nancy Allan, Patricia (Peter) Bagnall, Catherine Petre (Bob Kearnan), Paul (Carol) Gibbens, sister in law Laura Gibbens and brother in law Boyd Wood.

He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

James was born in Toronto, Ontario on May 20, 1933 and enjoyed a long career with General Motors, working in Toronto, Moncton and Oshawa offices.

James loved spending time with family above all else and never missed an opportunity to tell his kids he loved them, instilling in them the importance of family and loyalty. He enjoyed the many years at the family cottage on Kennisis Lake in Haliburton with the extended family.

He also enjoyed being around his many friends playing poker, having dinners, travelling to Florida and being around the people he loved.

Visitation will be held at The OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West. Oshawa, ON. L1J2L4.  *Please show up for your scheduled appointment and do not enter the funeral home until the allotted time.
