BALOGH, Joseph – (December 2, 1938 – February 20, 2021) - Joe left us peacefully, on Saturday evening, his family by his side.

He was predeceased by his father Jozsef, mother Erzebet (nee Hiro), and brother Istvan.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary and children, Joey, Carolyn (Marc), Michael (Jody), Christopher (Carrie), Tony and a small brood of adored grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joe began his young life in Hungary, on the outskirts of Budapest. When political upheaval reared its head, he left for France – eventually arriving in Montreal, Canada, and then on to Ontario.

He met the love of his life, Mary, while in St. Catharines, at a dance - something they continued to enjoy throughout their incredible 57 years together.

They settled in Oshawa, started a family and Joe began a proud and lifelong career at General Motors Canada, in 1963.

He retired in 2000 and spent his days as an accomplished cook and incredible gardener - always extremely proud to show off and share both skills.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation (in Joe’s memory) to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements with Mount Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date (likely late spring or early summer).  Extended family and friends will be included at that time.

Joe loved a party!
