RIDOUT, Reginald Bruce  - (December 15th, 1936 – March 15, 2021)

Bruce passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and dementia at his home at The Briton House in Toronto where he was well-cared for by an excellent team of nurses and PSWs.

Predeceased by his wife Joan Louise (Kelly) in 2014, Bruce leaves behind his two children, son Michael Ridout (Shelley) of Lethbridge, AB and daughter Christine Cho (John) of Toronto.

He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Caelan Ridout and Quinlan Cho.

Bruce also leaves behind his brother Peter and sister-in-law, Jacqueline. He will be missed by his brother-in-law Bill Kelly (Linda) as well as his nieces and nephews: Lisa Nesbitt Naboulsi (Frank), Sharon Nesbitt-Bencharski (Michelle), Kelly Pollard (Steve), Paul Kelly (Blayr) and Terri Lynn Kelly Roach (Toni).

Bruce will also be missed by his cousin and neighbour at The Briton House, Jack (Litchfield) and his special friend, Ethel.

Bruce was born to Aubrey Ridout (Tilt Cove, NF) and Lilian (Litchfield) in Toronto in 1936 and grew up in West Hill, attending R.H. King Academy.

A mechanical engineering graduate of General Motors Institute of Technology in Flint, Michigan, Bruce’s career with General Motors took him and his family from Oshawa to Vancouver, Vancouver to Oshawa, Oshawa to Calgary and finally back to Oshawa where he retired in 1996 from his position as the National Manager of Fleet Sales.

In retirement, Bruce and Joan settled in Whitby and enjoyed many cruises and vacations, often with their dear friends Lois and Brooke (Rye) in tow.

Given the pandemic situation, Bruce will be laid to rest where there will be a private family interment of his cremated remains to take place on Monday March 22nd, 2021 at 2 p.m. MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY.

When we can gather again, a celebration of Bruce’s life will be held.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Parkinson Canada, the Alzheimer Society of Ontario or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
