Will FranzWILL, Franz - (February 23, 1934 – March 28, 2021)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Franz Will at the age of 87 years at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Franz leaves behind his devoted wife of 64 years, Lotte Will, and his dedicated children Frances (Glenn) Coker, Diana (Mark) Russell, Jeanette Will-Lukow and Frank Will.

Dearly remembered by his sister Elizabeth Menzer of Zizenhausen, and predeceased by his siblings Johanna Rill of Ulm and Wilhelm Will of Nendingen, all of Germany.

Forever cherished by his grandchildren Michelle Coggan, Darrell Coker, Nicholas, Julia and Phillip Russell, Genevieve and Dominique Lukow, Joshua Will and great grandchildren Makayla, Emmalyne, Liam and Mateo.

Treasured friend of Else and Klemens (deceased) and family.

Loved ones will truly miss shared times with Franz at the cottage, a legacy he built from the ground up as a new immigrant who valued Canada’s resources. It was at the lake that Franz was his happiest enjoying social bush walks, watercraft rides, dock visits, campfires and chicken roasts.

Franz loved cooking his many specialities and indulging his extensive family, often hosting large gatherings with his brand of hospitality. There are many worldwide recipients of his handcrafted woodwork, another passion.

A natural leader, Franz was a proud Canadian who contributed a strong work ethic to our country. He came from Germany to Canada as a young man and built a fulfilling new life together with Lotte.

Full of energy and ideas, Franz always was ready to serve others even as his health failed him. Franz selflessly demonstrated abundant love and unwavering support for his family and lifelong friends who will forever adore their larger than life Opa Bear.

Thank you to Dr. O.Hadisfar, Dr. R.Tahiliani and Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their care and compassion.

A private celebration by invitation will be held to honour Franz because of Covid 19 restrictions.

In memory of Franz, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice are appreciated.

"We’ll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace, you always gave us. Your being there for family and friends, through good and bad times, no matter what. We’ll always remember you because there will never be another one to replace you in our hearts, and the love we will always have for you." - Author Unknown.

Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME .
