Davies WilliamDAVIES, William (Bill) Henry (November 20th, 1932 - March 21st, 2021)

BEM “01” to his army friends, passed away peacefully on 21st March 2021, at 88 years old.

He was preceded by his beloved wife Phyllis (nee Beames) and Grandson Simon (son of Janet and George) back in Wales.

He is survived by his Daughter Janet, Son-in-law George, Granddaughter Amie her husband Parker and Great Granddaughter Freya, who dearly miss him as a rock, friend, and playful Great Granddad, and his Son Paul and Grandson Robert still residing in Wales.

He was very active in veterans groups both in Wales and Canada and will be sadly missed by the many friends he has made over a well-lived giving life.

He was a proud member of the Royal Welsh Regiment Association, Ontario Regiment Association, Ontario Regiment Officers Mess, Branch 43 Royal Canadian Legion, Royal British Legion, Korea Veterans Association Canada and The British Korean Veterans.

In Wales and Canada, he organised Festivals of Remembrance that raised many thousands of pounds/dollars for the Legions.

He was part of the Memory Project where he gave talks to Schools and Cadet Associations about his military service, and was especially proud of Comparing the Remembrance Service in Memorial Park Oshawa on November 11th for many years.

A special thank you to the staff of the Oshawa Palliative Care Ward, and the team of Home Carers who helped him to stay at home as long as possible.

The Welch Regiment Collect

O God, who hast appointed to men once to die, give thy sufficient grace to thy servants of The Welch Regiment, that we may be faithful unto death by sea and by land, and choosing death rather than dishonour, may ever honour thee, for his name sake who endured the shame of the cross for us through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
