OTT, Rolf Otto Werner  -  August 27, 1933 - April 3, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rolf Otto Werner Ott on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 in his 88th year.

Rolf spent his final days surrounded by the love of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his siblings.

Rolf was the eldest son of Werner and Carola Ott, born in Hamburg, Germany on August 27th, 1933.

He was the loving husband of Christa (predeceased April 17, 2012) for 59 years.

He was the dear and devoted father of Jack (Bev) Ott; Regina (Alan) Brown; Dick (Cindy - predeceased) Ott; and Tom (Ruth) Ott. Kind and loving grandfather “Opi” to Shayla (Jason) Emery, Natalie (Carlo) Raponi, Nolan (Jordanna) Ott; Ian (Kelli) Brown, Andraea (Steve) Linton, Darren (Julie) Brown; Loretta (Michael) Nanninga, Chance (Michelle) Ott; Brandon (Stephanie) Ott, Tyrell (Melissa) Ott, Dana (Hayley) Ott; Neil and Kevin Ott; and his 18 great-grandchildren. Christa, Fiona & Elijah; Valerie & Jack; Owen, Rory & Colt; Addison & Jacob; Cecelia; Seth & Paul; Harper & Walker; Jude & Dash; Quincy. Rolf was dearly loved by his sister Margrit (Ted - predeceased) Gould, his brothers John (Katie), Roy (Sue), Werner (Julia), and his sister Ingrun (predeceased) (Heinz - predeceased) Daams; his cousin Rudi (Ursel) Sacha; and his brother-in-law Wolfgang (Gertrud) Wegert.

He is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends, both in Canada and in Germany. He came to know Jesus as his Lord and Saviour in his teenage years when he befriended members of a local Baptist youth group. It was at this same Baptist church where he met the love of his life: Christa Wegert.

They were married April 10th, 1955. Rolf and Christa immigrated to Canada in 1961 and raised their family in Toronto and later in North York.

They attended Melrose Baptist Church for many years where Rolf served on the Deacons Board.

Upon moving to Uxbridge, they attended Uxbridge Baptist Church, where Rolf was actively involved on the Missions Committee for many years.

It was a wonderful, magical place for the family, especially their grandchildren.  Dear to Rolf’s heart was his involvement with the building of Shobrook Gardens in Uxbridge, Ontario. Alongside David S. Simmonds, Rolf was co-founder of this wonderful community where he lived and served as the President for the past 17 years.

He loved his Shobrook Gardens Family.  “And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love."

Remembrance donations may be made to the Oak Ridges Hospice of Durham in Port Perry:  www.oakridgeshospice.com.
