GILLESPIE, Walter Bruce   - January 18, 1924 – April 4, 2021

It with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Walter, suddenly and peacefully at home in his 98th year.

Walter was predeceased by his wife, Jean Marie (Topping) in 2005 and his daughter Barbara Jean (David Bailey) in 2020.

Walter leaves his daughter Jane Palmer (Mike) of Honolulu and his son Chuck (Ainsley) of Beaverton, his grandchildren, Karen Bailey (Mathew Clooney), Brian Bailey (Anita), and Scott Bailey (Christina) and 7 great grandchildren.

Walter was predeceased by all of his siblings, sister Bea and brothers Bill, Doug, Grant and twin brother Ralph.

Walter was born and raised in Orangeville, Ontario where he along with his brothers excelled in hockey and lacrosse. He was a lifelong fan of hockey, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Walter was fortunate to have had a life well lived.

He was able to enjoy his personal interests and pursuits, especially the stock market and the business and sports pages of the newspapers until the very end.

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.

Those wishing to make a donation in Walter’s memory are asked to consider a donation to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 135 Beaverton.
