DARCY, John Francis - With heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Francis Darcy on his 89th birthday, April 30th, 2021.
Loving husband of Esther (nee Booth) father of Peter (Babette), Theresa Matthews (Brent), and Patricia Gibson (Paul). Grandfather of Caitlin (Matt), Camden (Kate), Laura, Mackenzie (Nick), Megan and Gracie. Great Grandfather to Nora, Theo, and Eden.
Lovingly remembered by Greg, Chris, Jen, and Ali Foxwell, and Caryn Hurst and Ava Watkins.
John was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, son of the late Myles and Marie Darcy. Brother of the late Francis, Patricia, and Michael.
John joined the Royal Air Force and was stationed as a medical nurse in Aden, Yemen and was active as a goal keeper for the Air Force soccer team while stationed there. Upon his return to Scotland, he received his certification as a house painter.
In 1956, he immigrated to Canada and met his future wife, Esther, the same year. They were married in 1957. By 1959, he was working for the Ontario Ministry of Housing.
John was a long-standing member with the Knights of Columbus with over 40 years of dedicated service.
Due to Covid, a private family service will be held on Friday May 7th.
