Wilson MarieWILSON, Marie (nee Button)   - Passed peacefully at Westshore Village in Port Perry on Monday, May 3, 2021.

The daughter of Bill and Gladys Button of Welland, Marie was born on May 13, 1931.

She trained as a nurse at Hamilton General Hospital and graduated in 1953.

After marrying her high school sweetheart, Claude Wilson in 1954, Marie would go on to set up home for her family in twelve different locales in Ontario and Quebec as Claude’s business career evolved.

During her lifetime Marie was an avid gardener, enjoyed curling, golf, bowling, bridge, darts and was seen doing line dancing into her 80’s.

She and Claude loved travel with cruise ship adventures being their favourite.

Marie had a knack of making any moment in life feel special. She was a big part of her Port Perry grandchildren’s lives and will forever be remembered with love and affection for the support she gave her family.

Marie and Claude moved to Port Perry in 2015 to be close to her son David and his family and she and Claude were able to live together at Westshore to the end of their lives, with Claude passing away just twelve weeks before her.

Thank you to all the Westshore staff, past and present, and Dr. Curtis Hadden for their care and support to Marie and Claude and their family.

Marie is survived by her brother Ken, her two children David (Dawn), Debra Murphy (Joe) and her five grandchildren Jennifer Rennie (Jason), Kelly Ritcey (Adam), Lindsay Wilson (Bryan Sippel), Jessica Wilson (Cody Wood) and Kaitlin Wilson as well as her seven great-grandchildren; Cole, Quinn, Everett, Emily, Olivia, Adeline, and Wren.

Final arrangements for Marie and Claude were entrusted to THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE in Oshawa and a celebration of life for both of them will be held when family and friends can safely gather together again. Marie and Claude will be returning to Welland for their final resting place.

Marie, from your family: May you always have the Luck of the Irish, never cross paths with Giant Queen snakes and may you and Claude forever be dancing together in the Moonlight, with a Serenade of course.
