Burkitt DorothyBURKITT, Dorothy  - October 28th, 1926 - May 23rd, 2021

On the morning of May 23rd, 2021, Dorothy passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the young age of 94. 

We mourn the loss and encourage any that knew her to remember the beauty and love she brought to this world. 

A loving wife to predeceased Thomas DeMille of nearly 47 years and Harry Burkitt of 22 years.

Loving Mum of Ken (Sue) DeMille, the late David (Heather) DeMille, Terry (Jean) DeMille, and Karey (Wilf) Bauch. Grandmother of Liisa (Jim) Black, Scott (Pam) DeMille, Jillian DeMille, Jason DeMille, and Dana (Alan) Barry.

Nana to Melissa (Kevin) Hyland and Danielle (Jake) Bauch.

Great Grandma of Nicholas and Mary Beth McNulty, Taylor DeMille, Erin (Glenn) DeMille, Jordan McCully, Mathew (Karlie) Stefan, Jessica and Joshua DeMille, Sam and Hayden Barry. 

She leaves behind three great great grandchildren.

She has left behind three sisters still in England, Shirley Willis Cull, Phyllis Chotter, and Mavis Duffin, and predeceased by brother Kenneth Bennett and sisters Joyce Clippard, Iris Cull, Jillian Hayne and Pamela Bennett. 

She has also left behind many very special nieces and nephews. 

Born in New Haw, Surrey, England, Dorothy immigrated to Canada as a war bride at the age of 19.

Along with her husband Thomas she spent her life caring for her family in Oshawa, Ontario. 

They spent many summers on Buckhorn Lake where she made many lifelong friends. 

Family would like to thank the amazing staff at Hillsdale Terraces for the care and kindness they provided to our Mum. 

A small private family ceremony will be held. 

A Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date when all can gather and celebrate together. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to a  CHARITY of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
