BOWYER, Mary Margaret 'Joan' - With gratitude for a life of family and love, we share the news of the passing of Mary Margaret “Joan” Bowyer on June 14, 2021 at the age of 88 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Loving mother of Elizabeth (Ed Farrell), John (Janine), Donald (Caroline) and Robert (Bernadette), and adoring and loved grandmother to Catherine (Lucas), Michael, and Megan Farrell; Rebecca (Collin), Jonathan and Elizabeth Bowyer; Jessica, Courtney, Samantha and Kate Bowyer; Frances, Simon and Lucas Bowyer; and two great granddaughters Eve and Ivy whom she was able to meet via Zoom.

Joan was predeceased by her parents Jean and Arnold Brown, and her siblings Norval (Adrian) Leitch and Raymond Brown. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marie Brown as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joan had a successful career as a teacher in Peel District School Board. She was active in the Brampton and Oakville communities, the United Church, the Retired Teachers of Ontario and Power Squadron.

Joan was fortunate to have many wonderful friends who travelled the world with her, including regular trips to Hawaii.

Joan will be remembered for her generosity of spirit, especially with her children and grandchildren.

Special thanks to the staff of Blueberry Hill at Hillsdale Estates Oshawa, for the loving care of Joan over the last 6 years, and in particular during the last year and a half of the COVID pandemic.

Due to the restrictions in place due to COVID-19, a Private Visitation will be held in Oshawa with interment in Oakville.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (www.alzheimers.ca).
