Parker LynPARKER, Lyn May 3, 1948 -  June 22, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Lyn Parker announces his passing.

Lyn passed at home in Oshawa, Ontario on June 22, 2021, at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his partner Joan Russell.

Lyn will be deeply missed by his son Ryan Parker and daughter Kyla Peters (Jeff), step daughters Tara Russell (Justin), Lori Russell and Dawn Riley (Marty) and step sons Jason Russell (Cathy) and Jerry Knockwood, Lyn’s brother Brock Parker (Karen) and his parents Eileen Parker (Roy Parker, deceased), his niece Jenny Parker (Steve) and nephew Michael Parker.

Papa Lyn will always be in the hearts of his grandchildren: Jacob, McKinley, Elijah, Keegan, Hudson, Tilly, Miller and Neveah; and fondly remembered by numerous other family members and friends.

He will be best remembered for being the “singing man on the island” on Georgian Bay!

His quiet strength, love of the outdoors and music, and knowledge of carpentry and building are what embodied Lyn’s essence. His Indigenous roots were very evident in all of these areas.

Apart from loving cottage life on Georgian Bay, Lyn’s passion was travelling.

Together, Lyn and Joan experienced many parts of the world through taking cruises, travelling Europe, and road trips across the United States. They were always seeking out new adventures wherever they landed.

He will be so greatly missed! As per his own wishes, no formal funeral will be held. A celebration of Lyn’s life is planned for later in the summer this year.

Arrangements entrusted to THORNTON CEMETERY and  FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Rd North, Oshawa (905) 579 - 6787. The family express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Donations will be gratefully accepted to the ‘Lyn Parker Indigenous Award’, https://ssbp.mycampus.ca/apex/f?p=320:50 to support Indigenous students in the skilled trades at Durham College.

The award was established by Joan and family to honour his legacy of helping others and to celebrate his Indigenous roots.

(Please select Bursary, Scholarship (name) and enter “Lyn Parker Indigenous Award”).

The family would appreciate your expressions of condolence at  etouch.ca .
