PHAIR, Thomas Elwood Phair - May 5, 1927 – August 16, 2021
Peacefully at the Oak Ridges Hospice surrounded by family on August 16, 2021 in his 95th year.
Beloved by his wife Joan MacLeod.
Much loved by daughter Beth Medhurst and son Tyrone Phair (Jennifer).
Dearest brother of Jean Burrell.
Thomas is lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren (Sean, Joel, Dodi, Robert, Lindsay, Hayley, Taylor and Emily), twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas was predeceased by his wife Catherine Simpson, son Paul Phair (Janis), daughter Laurel Millard (Charles) and sisters Eileen Tate and Doris Phair.
Thomas began his life, career and family in Toronto, attending Bloor Collegiate, earning his CPA degree and worshiping at Dufferin Street Baptist Church.
He loved to play rugby, swim, ski and, later, golf. Family was everything.
In 1958, he packed up the family for an opportunity in Kincardine on the shores of Lake Huron. Here he and Cathie raised their four children in this wonderful community and made friends for life.
Tom worked as the controller and treasurer for the Circle Bar Knitting Co. and later opened his own accounting practice. The family attended Kincardine Baptist Church.
Retirement took them to Florida, Uxbridge and ultimately Whitby and the Lynne Creek Village. Grandchildren and travel became their new passions.
Tom lovingly cared for Cathie until her passing in 2005. In 2008, Tom wed the lovely Joan MacLeod who reenergized his life and together they shared great adventures and friends.
Tom and Joan travelled widely to Israel, England, Jamaica and the Mediterranean, to name a few, and attended two churches.
Thomas was a man of great faith and now rests in the hands of his loving God.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Whitby Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 31st at 1:30pm.
