Dempers BenjaminDEMPERS, Benjamin Londt   -  July 20th, 1933 - August 19th, 2021

It is with great sadness the family of Benjamin Londt Dempers announce our father/grandfather/great grandfathers passing.

Ben passed away peacefully on Thursday August 19, 2021 at the Oshawa Hospital.

Benjamin was born in Cape Town South Africa July 20, 1933. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Christine (DeKoek) Dempers.

Benjamin was the youngest of (4) children and preceded in death is his older siblings George Dempers, Beattie (Luyt) Dempers, and Adelaide (Polomski) Dempers.

Ben and his wife Rita immigrated to Canada in 1967 to start a new, better life with their 3 children, Gregory, Benita Weiskopf, and Lester Dempers.

Ben worked for The Durham Board of Education up to his retirement.
Ben was most proud of the years he spent as the Durham Board C.U.P.E Union President.

Ben along with many other Union members fought for fair pay and fair treatment of the CUPE Union members.

Ben retired to the St. Thomas area where up until recently spent many wonderful years with friends and traveling several times to Europe.

Ben leaves behind his (3) children Gregory Dempers and wife Kimberly of North Carolina, Benita and husband Roy Weiskopf, and Lester Dempers and wife Jackie of Oshawa.

Leaves behind (7) grandchildren, Ashley Nelson (Dempers) and husband Eric of Ottawa Canada, Christopher Dempers of Port St. Lucie Florida, Austin Dempers of Denver Colorado, Stefan Weiskopf of Bowmanville and Connor Weiskopf of Oshawa, Tristen, and Teagen Dempers of Oshawa.

Extended grandchildren in St. Thomas, Amy Robertson, Nicholas Brown, Molly Brown and Elise Neville.
Aaron and Paulette (Atkinson) and many friends in the St. Thomas area.

Three Great-grand children Maggie and Edwyn Nelson of Ottawa and Isabella Weiskopf of Bowmanville.

Ben was an avid horse-racing fan, often describing horse-racing, “the sport of kings”.

Ben will be missed for his generous spirit and his quick wit.

Ben requested no services but asked that his family and friends remember him fondly, cheers !!
