Lynde RomaLYNDE, Roma (nee Page), FTCL - (19 August 1925 – 29 August 2021)

Peacefully in her 96th year at Cedarcroft Place, Oshawa.

Daughter of Eveline and Richmond Page, sister of Eveline.

Beloved wife of the late Norman Jabez Lynde.

Beloved mother to Deborah (John MacCallum), Denyse (Peter), John (Carol), and Adam.

Doting grandmother to Cordelia, Elizabeth, Sarah, Giles, and Cassandra.

Under the tutelage of Dr. Charles Peaker and Marcel Dupre, Roma went on to have career as organist and choir director that spanned more than forty years.

Starting during the latter days of the Second World War with a position at St Paul’s, Lindsay, she played in a variety of denominations, as well as for synagogues and the Church of Christian Science in Toronto.

She also taught piano and organ to many students, and in the early 1970s raised a sixty-voice youth choir in Pickering, Ontario: the Travelling Choristers.

Throughout her career, however, she remained a devout member of the Anglican Church, cherishing both its liturgy and music. Accordingly, she believed that her finest posting was her last, at St Timothy’s North Toronto, from which she retired after twelve years of service. For the last seven years, she found a spiritual home, and made many new friends, at the Cathedral Church of St. James.

Mom often complained that no one warned her about the pains that accompany advanced age. Still, she soldiered on, and arthritis, deafness, and loss of eyesight did little to slow her down.

She will be greatly missed by her family and by her many, many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral Church of St. James, Toronto, Ontario.

Visitation will be held at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Friday September 3rd from 10am -11am.  Funeral service at 11am.

*Registration will be required for visitation and the service. Please use the RSVP Tab on the funeral home's website.

Interment Erskine Cemetery, Pickering, Ontario.
