Lyons JohnLYONS, John James “Jack”   -  May 7th, 1941 -September 11th, 2021

Jack passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 11th at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 80.

Beloved husband of Cathy Lyons. Adored father of Michele Lyons (Paul) and Mike Lyons (Tracy).

Proud grandfather of Jack, Shawn and Bronwyn. Brother of Marg Longauer (the late Danny). Brother-in-law of Liz Dressing. Uncle to Lance Longauer, Steve Longauer (Nancy), Ray Longauer (Stacey), Ted Longauer (Cathy), and Suzanne Dashney (Kevin).

Jack was an amazing athlete, who just loved sports. He enjoyed skiing, basketball, baseball and tennis.

Jack and Cathy loved to travel together and included their children and grandchildren in their adventures. Family was everything to Jack.  He loved sitting down and just having coffee with his close family.

Simple pleasures meant so much. He never missed any of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, hockey, soccer or dance recitals. Everyone knew Grandpa Jack.

He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

He also had a special connection with son-in-law Paul and daughter-in-law Tracy.

His relationship with family, friends and neighbours was important and brought him tremendous joy. And the neighbourhood knew how much he loved his garden and lawn! It is beautiful. Throughout his life he remained passionate about General Motors cars and trucks.

Special thanks to Lakeridge Health Oshawa ICU & Palliative Care for their tremendous support and care.

A sincere and heartfelt thank you to Nurse Michael for your incredible comfort to Jack and the entire family.
