MITCHELL, Janis Beryle (nee Nixon) Mitchell   -  Janis passed away peacefully in her Ajax home on Monday, September 13, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 81.

Born in her Granny’s house in Gravenhurst, beloved daughter of Doris Marjory Nixon White and John A. Nixon.

Loving wife of 60 years to Bruce Mitchell of Severn Bridge and proud mother to Daniel (Yvonne), Laurence (Wendy) and Tara.

Cherished sister to Joan (Wilmer) Closs, Judy (Carl) Mansfield and Carol (John) Hendry. Mother-in-law and dear friend to Cindy.

Beloved Granny to Jacob, Gregory, Brock, Peter, and Alyna, as well as Kyle, Karen, and Natasha.

Aunt to Jeff (Michelle), Diane (Joe), Tom (Caroline), Christopher, Robert, and Jenna. 

Enthusiast of many pursuits, Janis is fondly remembered for her many years of ringette, gardening and flower design, kitchen design, community, church and environmental activism, especially for the St. Johns Anglican church and Pickering Beach communities, and her activities with the Zahras Middle Eastern dancing, pickleball, the Red Hat Society, and other activities too numerous to mention.

Visitation arrangements with the Accettone Funeral Home, in Ajax on Friday, on September 17, 2021. The funeral service will be held at St. Johns Anglican Church, Port Whitby at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 18 th.  Indoor attendance will be limited to invitation only, due to COVID restrictions.  A brief reception to follow, outdoors. 

Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice or to St. Johns Anglican Church would be welcomed and much appreciated.
