MITCHELL, Cindy Betty Germaine  -  It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Cindy Betty Germaine Mitchell (nee Kabel) on October 14, 2021 in her 64th year.

With her family by her side, Cindy passed peacefully and gracefully after a short battle with cancer.

Cindy is mourned by her partner Andy Brown, daughter Kristin Inwood (Dec.), son Kyle Inwood (Lindsey), daughter Karen Inwood and son Jacob Mitchell. “GMa” to Elijah, Quinn, and Cooper.

Daughter of Evert (Dec.) and Muriel Kabel. Loving sister of Kim Robinson (Doug), Sherry Godja (Leslie), Marie Boyle (Barry) and Jim Kabel. Sister-in-law to Daniel Mitchell (Yvonne), and Tara Mitchell.

Loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Deeply loved by Andy’s family, mother Aileen, son’s Brett (Caitlin) and Phil, brothers Jeff (Yvette), and Doug (Linda).

Cindy was born in Bancroft, ON, and later became a long-term resident of the Durham Region area.  Cindy was deeply rooted in the community of activism and social services and worked at Durham Association for Family Resources and Support (DAFRS). Cindy’s advocacy over the years helped many families in need of support and volunteered for many organizations over the years including Family Alliance Ontario.

Cindy loved many activities like hockey, baseball, ringette, dragon boating and kayaking. Cindy loved spending time with her three grandchildren and was ever grateful to see them.

Arrangements are entrusted with Morris Funeral Home in Bowmanville.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation in Cindy’s name can be made to DAFRS. Money raised will be used to assist families in the Durham Region who may be struggling financially having to care for a child or family member with a disability.
