McLEAN, Elizabeth Patricia (aka Betty) (nee Hungerford/Milne)  - (1927 - 2021)

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our Mother Betty McLean at Extendicare Oshawa on October 12, 2021.

Born in 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Hungerford.

Betty was predeceased by her second husband John McLean (2009), her brother John Hungerford (2009), sister-in-law Jean Hungerford (1982), her eldest son Richard Milne (2012) and sister Carol Marchant (2019).

She is survived by her son Barry Milne (wife Sherry) of Calgary AB, her daughter Lori Lock of Whitby (late husband Brian), daughter Penny Lambert of Courtice (husband Bill) and brother-in-law Murray Marchant of Bowmanville.

Beloved Grandmother to Suzanne Guerin (late husband Marc), Michael Lambert (Lindsay Collins), Julie Milne, and Andrew Lambert (wife Susanna). Great Grandmother to Andrew and Susanna’s son Charlie Lambert and Aunt to Carol and Murray’s children Rick, Cheryl and Chris.

Betty will also be fondly remembered by her close friends and past co-workers.

She lived in Oshawa for most of her life, but in her early married years to first husband Matthew Milne, she lived in Kingston as well, where her 2 sons were born.

Betty also did dressmaking at home for many years, while raising her children and then later, worked at Chrysler in Ajax for 16 years before retiring.

Betty always enjoyed crocheting as her hobby, making many items enthusiastically for family members and friends.  She also donated many afghans to Extendicare Oshawa that cared for her.

Betty’s family wishes to recognize and thank all the hard-working professional staff and volunteers at Extendicare, Oshawa for their kindness and compassion over the past 6 years, as well as the extraordinary Dr. Ngoc Nguyen, who was Betty’s physician for most of her years there.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Humane Society of Durham Region or the Salvation Army.
