OLNEY, Brother John P. Olney - April 11, 1939 – October 17, 2021
Jesuit, of the Society of Jesus died peacefully on October 17, 2021, at Rene Goupil House in Pickering, ON.
John was born in Montreal, son of Ernest Olney and Mary Mullins.
He was 82 years old and in his 65th year as a Jesuit.
All of his Jesuit life was centered upon the day to day operation of a Jesuit Infirmary at various locales and assisting in the managerial operation of the Regis College School of Theology building and its student residences.
Br John adapted well to computer programmes and so the management of student and community finances was added to his portfolio.
His dedication to the vocation of a Brother was an inspiring example to his religious community and to the lay staff of many institutions.
He retired to Pickering in 2017, survived the Covid-19 virus in May of 2020, and then continued an active life until his death. Wake at St Ignatius Chapel (Manresa) Pickering, on October 24, from 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, October 25, at 11:00 am.
Burial will take place at the Jesuit Cemetery in Guelph, at 2:30 pm.
