McCabe DouglasMCCABE, Douglas Ian   -  May 16th, 1930 - January 9th, 2022

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Douglas Ian McCabe on January 9th, 2022 in his 92nd year.

Doug, as his family called him, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all whose lives he touched.

Doug was a hard working and dedicated employee.

He retired from a long successful career at General Motors in Oshawa, Ontario, then moved on to open "McCabe's Cheese Nook", a family run business.

Above all, Doug was a family man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved his sports.

There was always a discussion about if the Jays were good enough to make the playoffs or a comment about the Leafs being "bums".

Doug was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and athlete. He enjoyed all sports including golf, baseball, hockey, and curling.

He had an incredible sense of humor and always knew someone everywhere he went.

Doug was the loving and devoted husband of Jean McCabe. Pre-deceased by his parents Eva and Leo, and his eldest son Frank. Doug was also the beloved father of Pam (John), Wendy (Brian), and Donna.

He was the proud grandfather of Brett (Kandas), Candace, Colin (Ashley), Michelle (Cory), Ken, Robb (Noelle), and Krystyna (Tyler).

Doug also cherished his great grandchildren Eastyn, Tyson, Arya, Karson, Peyton, Atlas, Hailey, Evan, Maykayla, Audryna, Amari and Emerson.

He lived a full life as a wonderful father, mentor, and friend. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

No service to take place at this time.

Arrangements entrusted to the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234).

Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
