Stoppa JamesSTOPPA, James  -  July 29th, 1949 - February 25th, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Micheal Stoppa on February 25, 2022.

James was the dear husband of Jane O’Dette and proud and loving father of Debbie Medeiros (Eusebio) and Sherry Lizinski (Paul), and step-father of Matt O’Dette (Kehau), Ryan O’Dette (Tara) and Sarah O’Dette (Dave).

He will be greatly missed by his cherished grandchildren; Adam (Stacey), Daulton (Bianca), Tristan (Nicole), Rylee, Connor, Chase, Liam, Mak and great grandchild, Kingsley.

He is predeceased by his parents; Stanley and Kathleen, sister Shirley and beloved twin brother Steven.

James was born in Toronto on July 29, 1949 and passed away in Haliburton Hospital peacefully with family by his side at the age of 72 after a long battle with COPD.

James (aka Jim) retired in Haliburton several years ago with his wife Jane as they loved the simplicity of nature and tranquility of the cottage life. Some of his hobbies included; spending time with his family, walking his dog Ralphie, and reading.

Also, Jim had a great love for the sport of hockey.

He was a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and rarely missed a single game.

To know Jim was to love Jim.  He was disciplined, patient, hardworking with a heart of gold who preferred to live a simple life.

Jim will be deeply missed but never forgotten and will forever be loved by his family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 12 – 1 p.m. at the  ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME e (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Cremation.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Assocation.

Online condolences may be left at  armstrongfh.ca .
